More and more jurisdictions are implementing Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS), such as the BC Energy Step Code and the Seattle 2018 update, which have left many in the construction industry left to wonder how to best go about meeting these new requirements, while still being cost effective.

This presentation delves into modern high-performance construction products, a high-level overview of what makes a product “high performance”, benefits of high performance construction products in the world of emerging BEPS, as well as real-world project examples.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

-Review the BC Energy Step Code and learn the key differences from past iterations and the path to current compliance.

-Discover which building envelope assemblies have the largest impact on energy efficiency. Demonstration will be provided to show how those assemblies can be targeted for improvement.

-Understand the design flexibility that can be achieved using an integrated window and building envelope design approach, while providing cost effective and value engineering solutions.

-Learn the material characteristics of fiberglass windows and other fiberglass construction materials.
